ATP Tokyo: Andrey Rublev Wins Fourth Title of 2023
Upset Victor, Loss to Tiafoe
Andrey Rublev defeated American Marcos Giron 6-3, 6-2 for his fourth ATP title of 2023 in Tokyo on Sunday.
Rublev, 25, was coming off a semifinal loss to Frances Tiafoe at the Japan Open last week.
Dominant Performance
Rublev won 86% of first-serve points (25 of 29) and saved all three break points he faced against Giron.
Rublev broke Giron's serve three times in the match.
Career-Best Season
The victory brings Rublev's 2023 match record to 50-18.
He has won four titles this year (Dubai, Belgrade, Marseille, Tokyo) and reached the finals of two other tournaments (Hamburg, Astana).
Eyes on Paris Masters
Rublev will now turn his attention to the Rolex Paris Masters, which begins on October 31.
He is the defending champion in Paris and will be looking to win his fifth title of the year.
