Fritz defeats Tiafoe in all-American final

Taylor Fritz has won the ATP Tokyo title after defeating Frances Tiafoe in an all-American final on Sunday. The victory marks Fritz's second title of the season, following his triumph at the Eastbourne International in June.

Fritz wins in three sets

Fritz won the match in three sets, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2), 6-4. The 24-year-old American saved five break points in the first set and four in the second set. He also broke Tiafoe's serve four times in the match.

Fritz is now 4-0 against Tiafoe in their head-to-head meetings. He has also won his last four ATP finals, dating back to 2021.

With his victory in Tokyo, Fritz has moved up to No. 8 in the world rankings. He is now the highest-ranked American player.

Fritz is scheduled to play next at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Shanghai, which begins on October 9.
