Authorities Explained the "Curved" Rails of the High-Speed Tram in Saratov
Introduction
The authorities of the city of Saratov have explained the presence of "curved" rails on the line of the high-speed tram. Earlier, the townspeople drew attention to the fact that, on a section of the tram tracks, the rails seem to have taken on a curved shape.
Explanations from the Authorities
According to the head of the Saratov City Electric Transport Company, Alexei Navalnov, the curved shape of the rails is due to the correct operation of the rolling stock. The rails have not changed their shape and are not deformed. The tram simply flattens the rails under its weight and as it moves.
Navalnov explained the formation of the "waves" on the rails by the fact that the tram has a large weight — more than 60 tons. When the car is moving, the weight is distributed unevenly along the length of the carriage, and depending on which of the wheels of the carriage is currently loaded, the rail bends under the wheel. After the car has passed, the rail returns to its original position.
The head of the enterprise also noted that the "wave-like" bend in the rails in no way affects the safety of the tram. The cars are on pneumatic suspension, which provides a smooth ride. Therefore, passengers do not feel any discomfort while driving, including on uneven sections of the track.
Public Concern
Despite the explanations of the authorities, the townspeople continue to worry about the unevenness of the rails on the tram line. According to Saratov residents, in some sections of the route, the tram seems to be moving in a snake-like manner due to the bending of the rails.
The townspeople are concerned that due to the unevenness of the track, a tram could derail, which would lead to serious consequences. Citizens believe that the authorities should carry out a more thorough check of the tram tracks.
Conclusion
The authorities of the city of Saratov assure the townspeople that the "curved" rails on the high-speed tram line do not pose a danger to humans. However, the townspeople have doubts about this, as the tram strongly shakes on some sections of the route due to uneven rails.
