Russian Cup Third Round Concludes, as the likes of Arsenal Tula, Sokol Saratov Advance to Last 16
Moscow based football club FC Arsenal Tula and FC Sokol Saratov both advanced to the Russian Cup last 16 on Tuesday, after securing wins over FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk and FC Dynamo Bryansk respectively.
FC Arsenal Tula Advances with 4-0 victory
FC Arsenal Tula secured a resounding 4-0 victory over FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk. The hosts began the match brightly and took the lead in the 37th minute when a pinpoint cross from Brazilian midfielder Everton found Serbian forward Luka Jovic at the back post.
Arsenal Tula dominated possession and continued to trouble the Yenisey defense. They doubled their lead in the 52nd minute through a well-executed free-kick from Croatian midfielder Danijel Ljuboja. The visitors rarely threatened the Arsenal Tula goal.
Arsenal Tula made it 3-0 in the 67th minute when Jovic bagged his second goal of the match. The striker pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired home from close range.
Arsenal Tula completed the scoring in the 85th minute through substitute forward Dmitri Akimov. The youngster received a pass from Jovic and coolly slotted the ball past the Yenisey goalkeeper.
FC Sokol Saratov Advances with 2-0 victory
FC Sokol Saratov secured a 2-0 victory over fellow second division side FC Dynamo Bryansk. The match was played in front of a small crowd and neither side created much in the opening stages.
Sokol Saratov took the lead in the 35th minute when a cross from the right-wing found striker Aleksandr Sobolev unmarked in the box. The forward made no mistake and headed home from close range.
Sokol Saratov doubled their lead in the 55th minute through a stunning free-kick from midfielder Sergei Tkachev. The midfielder curled the ball into the top corner of the net.
Dynamo Bryansk rarely threatened the Sokol Saratov goal and were unable to create any clear-cut chances.
