Lyon holds off Lille as Monaco stunned by Angers in Ligue 1
Lille threw away a lead to draw Lyon while Wissam Ben Yedder’s late red card compounded a miserable day for Monaco
Lyon fought back from a goal down to salvage a 1-1 draw at Lille on Friday as Monaco suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Angers in Ligue 1.
Lille rue missed chances
Jonathan David put Lille ahead in the 22nd minute, but Lyon leveled through Moussa Dembele 10 minutes later. Lille pressed for a winner but were denied by good saves from Anthony Lopes and wasteful finishing.
Monaco stunned
Monaco’s miserable day was compounded when Wissam Ben Yedder was sent off late on for a second yellow card. Angers had taken the lead through Adrien Hunou in the 52nd minute, and Monaco could not find a way back into the game.
What it means
The draw leaves Lille in fifth place on 19 points, three behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain. Lyon is in eighth place on 16 points, while Monaco is down in 12th on 14 points.
