Newcastle boss Eddie Howe previews Arsenal clash: 'They are a fantastic team'

Howe full of praise for Arsenal ahead of Premier League meeting

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has heaped praise on Arsenal ahead of their Premier League clash on Saturday. The Gunners travel to St James' Park in fine form, sitting top of the table after winning their first eight games of the season.

Howe knows his side will face a tough test against Mikel Arteta's men, but he is confident his players can cause an upset.

Howe: 'Arsenal are a fantastic team'

"Arsenal are a fantastic team," Howe said at his pre-match press conference. "They have been playing very well this season and they are one of the favourites to win the Premier League title.

"They have a lot of quality in their squad and they are very well-coached. We will need to be at our best to get anything from the game."

Howe: 'We can cause Arsenal problems'

Despite Arsenal's impressive form, Howe believes his Newcastle side can cause them problems at St James' Park.

"We have a good team and we are confident in our ability to win any game," Howe said. "We will need to be brave and take the game to Arsenal, but we also need to be patient and disciplined.

"If we can do that, I believe we can cause Arsenal problems and get something from the game."

Newcastle team news

Newcastle will be without a number of key players for the Arsenal clash. Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes are all out injured.

However, Howe has a number of options to choose from, and he is confident his side can cope with the loss of some of their key players.

"We have a good squad and we have a lot of players who can step up," Howe said. "We will be without some key players for the Arsenal game, but we are confident we can still get a result."
