Promo-LEX: Electoral campaign for the second round of presidential elections marked by violations

Observers from the Promo-LEX Association reported a series of irregularities and violations committed during the campaign for the second round of the Moldovan presidential elections set for November 15

The Promo-LEX Association demanded that the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) react to the violations, sanction those responsible, and take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.

In a press release issued on November 11, Promo-LEX observers detailed the violations they had recorded over the previous five days of the electoral campaign.

The observers noted that the violations included the use of administrative resources, electoral bribery, and the violation of the right to vote. They also expressed concerns about the lack of transparency in the financing of the campaigns, saying that this issue needed to be addressed in order to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

“The Promo-LEX Association expresses its concern and urges the CEC to react promptly to the reported violations, to sanction those responsible, and to take appropriate measures to prevent their recurrence,” the press release said.

The observers also called on the candidates and their supporters to conduct their campaigns in a fair and transparent manner, and to respect the electoral law.

“The integrity of the electoral process is essential for the legitimacy of the election results,” the press release said. “Promo-LEX calls on all stakeholders to act in accordance with the law and to refrain from any actions that could undermine the electoral process.”

The Promo-LEX Association is a non-governmental organization that has been monitoring the electoral process in Moldova since 1999.
