Russian Coach Leonid Slutsky's Beijing Guoan in the hunt for Chinese Super League title

Beijing Guoan held to 1-1 draw in Chinese Super League as title race goes down to the wire

Slutsky's side remain in contention for the championship, but will need to win their final game of the season and hope other results go their way

Beijing Guoan, managed by Russian coach Leonid Slutsky, played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Changchun Yatai in the penultimate round of fixtures in the Chinese Super League on Sunday.

The result leaves Beijing Guoan in third place in the standings, one point behind leaders Wuhan Three Towns and level on points with second-placed Shandong Taishan.

Beijing Guoan will now need to win their final game of the season against Cangzhou Mighty Lions and hope that Wuhan Three Towns lose their final game against Shanghai Port in order to win the title.

Slutsky's side took the lead in the 26th minute through Zhang Yuning, but Changchun Yatai levelled just before half-time through Erik. Both teams had chances to win the game in the second half, but neither side could find a winning goal.

The draw means that the Chinese Super League title race will go down to the final day of the season.
