Rostov coach Valeri Karpin has admitted that the club made a mistake in allowing goalkeeper Sergei Pesyakov to leave in the summer.

Pesyakov left Rostov in the summer

Pesyakov, 32, joined Rostov from Spartak Moscow in 2019 and was a key member of the team that won the Russian Cup in 2021.

However, he left the club in the summer after falling out with Karpin.

Logashov: Pesyakov is a good goalkeeper

Logashov, who replaced Karpin as Rostov coach in October, said that he believes Pesyakov is a good goalkeeper who could have helped the team this season.

"Pesyakov is a good goalkeeper," Logashov said. "He has a lot of experience and he is a good shot-stopper."

Logashov: Rostov made a mistake in letting Pesyakov go

"I think it was a mistake to let him go," Logashov added. "He could have been a valuable asset to the team this season."

Rostov are struggling this season

Rostov are currently 12th in the Russian Premier League, having won just three of their first 15 games.

The club has also been eliminated from the Russian Cup and the Europa Conference League.

Logashov hopes to improve Rostov's fortunes

Logashov said that he is confident that he can turn things around at Rostov.

"I know that we are not in a good position at the moment," Logashov said. "But I believe that we can improve our results."

"We have a good squad of players and I am confident that we can achieve our goals this season."
