Victory eluded Leonid Slutsky's side in China as his Beijing Guoan side drew away from home against Changchun Yatai

Beijing Guoan fails to bring home the victory

Beijing Guoan is still in the running to win the Chinese Super League title. However, they failed to close the gap on leaders Wuhan Three Towns after being held to a 1-1 draw away at Changchun Yatai on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts took the lead in the first half through Erik, but Beijing Guoan equalized after the break. Cedric Bakambu scored his 12th goal of the season with a fine finish.

Despite a strong finish to the season, Beijing Guoan is still seeking their first league title since 2009

Beijing Guoan remains third in the table, four points behind Wuhan Three Towns. With just three games remaining, they need to win all of their remaining matches and hope that Wuhan Three Towns drop points.

Slutsky's side has been in excellent form since the Russian took over in June. They have won 10 of their last 12 matches in all competitions.

However, they have struggled to convert draws into wins in recent weeks. They have drawn their last four matches in the Chinese Super League.

Beijing Guoan will be hoping to end their winless run when they host Meizhou Hakka on Saturday afternoon.
