Voronkov resumes training with the Blue Jackets after injury
Columbus Blue Jackets forward Yegor Voronkov has resumed training with the team after missing the first 10 games of the season with a shoulder injury.
Voronkov was injured in a preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings on September 25th, and underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He has been skating and shooting pucks for the past few weeks, and was cleared for full contact on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old Voronkov is expected to make his season debut on Thursday when the Blue Jackets host the New York Islanders. He is expected to play on the team's third line, alongside Jack Roslovic and Patrik Laine.
Voronkov had a breakout season with the Blue Jackets last year, scoring 11 goals and adding 19 assists in 79 games. He is expected to play a key role for the team this season, as they look to make a playoff push.
The Blue Jackets are currently 5-5-0 on the season, and are tied for third place in the Metropolitan Division. They will be looking to get back on track on Thursday against the Islanders, and Voronkov's return should give them a boost.
