The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a record high number of mpox cases in 22 months, with more than 6,000 cases reported in the past week.
The majority of cases are being reported in Europe, with the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany reporting the highest numbers.
What is mpox?
Mpox is a rare but potentially serious viral infection that can cause a range of symptoms, including fever, headache, muscle aches, and a rash.
The virus is spread through close contact with an infected person or animal, or through contact with contaminated objects.
How to protect yourself from mpox
There are a number of things you can do to protect yourself from mpox, including:

Treatment for mpox

In most cases, people will recover from mpox within a few weeks.
