Director of a sports school in Tatarstan to stand trial for the death of a child in the pool

The head of the sports school "Yunost" in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan, will stand trial for the death of a child in the pool.

This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office of Tatarstan.

According to the investigation, on March 9, 2023, a 10-year-old boy was swimming in the pool of the sports school "Yunost". The child could not swim, and there was no instructor or lifeguard on duty at the pool. As a result, the boy drowned.

The director of the sports school was charged with causing death by negligence due to improper performance of his professional duties (part 2 of article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The criminal case is sent to the Naberezhnye Chelny City Court for consideration on the merits.
