MTS, which is Russia's largest mobile operator, acknowledged the outage and said it was working to restore services as quickly as possible. The company did not provide any details about the cause of the outage, but said it was likely due to a technical issue at one of its switching centers.
In addition to MTS, customers of MGTS, which is Moscow's fixed-line telephone provider, also reported outages. MGTS said it was experiencing a "partial network failure" and was working to resolve the issue.
The outages have caused widespread disruption in Moscow, with many businesses and residents unable to make or receive phone calls or access the internet. The outages have also affected public transportation, with some metro stations reporting delays due to problems with communication systems.
MTS and MGTS have not yet provided an estimated time for when services will be restored. The outages are expected to continue for several hours, and customers are advised to make alternate arrangements for communication.
