Italian Journalist: Jannik Sinner played in the Diriyah Tennis Cup exhibition event for the money
Italian tennis journalist and commentator Ubaldo Scanagatta has given his thoughts on Jannik Sinner’s decision to play in the Diriyah Tennis Cup exhibition event in Saudi Arabia.
Sinner was one of several high-profile players who took part in the event, which was held in Riyadh from December 8-10. The Italian reached the final of the tournament, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev.
Scanagatta believes that Sinner’s decision to play in the event was motivated by money. He said that the Italian player is “not a political activist” and that he was simply looking to earn some extra money.
“I don’t think that Sinner is a political activist,” Scanagatta said. “He’s a tennis player and he went to Saudi Arabia to play tennis and win prize money.”
Scanagatta also said that he believes that the Diriyah Tennis Cup is a “good tournament” and that it is “not a political event.” He said that the tournament is “organized by a private company” and that it is not affiliated with the Saudi government.
“The Diriyah Tennis Cup is a good tournament,” Scanagatta said. “It’s organized by a private company and it’s not a political event. It’s a tennis tournament and the players who participate are there to play tennis.”
