The Army Men Lost to Abascal, and Now it's Also a Serbian Derby
The match of the 13th round of the Russian Premier League between CSKA and Spartak ended with the victory of the red-whites with a score of 2:1.
The Army men took the lead in the 12th minute - Jesus Medina scored, but in the 28th minute, Alexander Sobolev equalized the score.
The winning goal was scored by another forward of Spartak - Shamar Nicholson, who scored in the 64th minute.
With this victory, Spartak moved up to fourth place in the standings, with 26 points. CSKA is in fifth place with 24 points.
The match between CSKA and Spartak was marked by a number of controversial refereeing decisions. In particular, the referee did not award a penalty to CSKA for a foul on Fedor Chalov, and also disallowed Spartak's goal for offside.
After the match, CSKA head coach Vladimir Fedotov expressed his dissatisfaction with the refereeing.
"I don't want to talk about the refereeing, but there were some very controversial decisions," Fedotov said.
Spartak head coach Guillermo Abascal, on the other hand, praised the performance of his players.
"I am very happy with the way my players played today," Abascal said. "They showed great character and determination and deserved to win."
